Technology Philosophy

For many years I have been interested in and concerned about digital privacy and the ability to have owership and control over my own technology and devices.

For that reason I am a huge fan of the Linux family of operating systems, which I have been using as my main computer OS since 2015. It’s great. (Currently using Linux Mint Debian and MX Linux, but also like Pop OS, Ubuntu, Ubuntu Mate and Linux Mint).

I’m also a big fan of simple old retro technology like the Palm PDA and the Alphasmart Neo word processor.

I feel very conflicted, because I want to connect and share with people, but Facebook and Instagram specifically are unethical and destructive. I like the federated platforms (meaning it’s a network of servers, not owned by one single company) Mastodon and Pixelfed much more.
